Hello, world. Nice to meet you again. I'm Jess and I make movies.

First and foremost, I'm a visual person so I will try my best to make this introduction as interesting as possible.

I'm Jess and I make movies.  I've stopped saying, "I'm Jess and I want to make movies," because, life is too short and things never happen if you are just sitting around waiting for them to.  So, here I am, a proud filmmaker, sharing my work with the world.

I currently live in Austin, Texas which is a rather interesting place.

I am from Virginia and that is where my story begins.

I am not going to go all the way back to the very beginning because, well, it's bound to come up sometime in the future, especially in my films.

I will start with where the '4720 Productions' name and my camera, named Starbuck, came from.

So, there I was, a lonely 22 year old college dropout, just having had my heart broken for the first time, the first time it truly mattered.

I was a complete, drunken, dramatic mess.

Then, my lovely stepmother and father bought me this amazing little camera set and encouraged me to go be creative, the best medicine for someone like me.

Still, I laid in bed.

And, then, I was swept away to a cute tea tavern in the middle of  nowhere with a dear friend.  We sat and talked for hours, eating fresh baked scones and drinking tea.  She, in her magical ways, convinced me to make a movie about my situation.  So, she (this is my magical love, Susie, by the way), my best friend in the world, Samantha, our friend Steve, and I made a movie about the crazy heartbreak, all in one week.

The film is called 'Dating Jen' and will be on this blog in due time.  It was one of the most exhilarating weeks of my life and Team Martin was born.

 Team Martin is a mix of all types of artists and represents making your art wherever you may be and not letting any type of constraints stop you. 

The name '4720 Productions' comes from the number of the apartment all of the Team Martin magic took place.  I hated that apartment at first because it reminded me of the whole broken heart thing I had previously mentioned.  So, we took that place and turned it into our creative central and made it our own.  Hence, why I still use the name to title this blog.  It's all about reclaiming your life and making it your own.

I am forever indebted to this group of people for, in all honesty, saving my life and reminding me of my truest passion and love, film making. 

So, now, here I am.  I'm not going to lie, I've taken a break from any sort of creativity since moving here to Austin, trying to deal and cope with things, feeling lost.  It has been hell.  Then it hit me, I feel at home when I am working on films.  It is the only time I do not feel lost.  My film making is a part of me, a key to myself.

Once and for all, I'm Jess and I make movies.  And, I will, forevermore, make my movies, follow my dreams, and tell my stories.

This blog is a place to share and promote my art and share the art and fellow stories of anyone else who shares such passion to just do what they truly love and believe in, no matter what.
