Two Lovers and a Bird - First Cut

Today is a day for trying something new (as every day should be).  Here it goes: I am going to post the first cut of a little project I have been working on.  It is not complete as the second cut is already in the works.

The monologues you will hear in the video are actually part of a few character sketches I have for a screenplay I am working on.  They stuck with me and the idea for this little film came about.

I would love feedback.  You know, the honest, brutal, first impression kind.  So, sit back, take a look, and let me know what you think.

  1. I really liked the emotion in the first monologue, but the second one didn't grab me at all. And "my love" felt really awkward, because it's old fashioned and most people don't say it the way they were saying it. For instance, my gf uses it as a question to get my attention.

As for the film part of it, it was really obvious which part you filmed and which part your friend filmed. The close-up wandering lens for the first monologue was interesting, but I wanted it to be broken up a little bit. I got bored with following the camera from feature to feature. When I first watched it, I was struck by how the emotions of the actors didn't match the words. I'm guessing (???) that the first monologue was speaking about the person on camera, and the second as well. I think that would be a really interesting dichotomy, especially if you could film it with the speaker's emotions toward the person on camera coming through loud and clear. I think this would be amazing if you could pull that off. The first half was good for that, and the second part was distant enough, but needed something more.

And I wanted more footage of the bird. :P
